SUMMER SEASON BOTANICALS: neroli & calendula
SUMMER SEASON BOTANICALS: neroli & calendula
INDIGO is the color of perception and light and the studio intentionally holds space reflecting therapies and modalities to support change. INDIGO is a healing arts studio, with wellness offerings holistically cultivated, clinically informed, and botanically inspired with plant medicine (materia medica)
At INDIGO, the response to the spa model which boasts luxury, simply does not equate to wellness, transformation, or change. The spa wellness model carried forward in history with accessibility only to the wealthy elite, and with proximity to a natural source of water. The same perception of wellness exists today, modified slightly, with a conditioned invitation to pursue self-love, reliant upon what someone else will do for you, signaling failed mechanisms for coping and change
Realistically, luxury focused care whether traditional or holistic cannot properly funnel and filter competing messages to escape the noise while simultaneously inviting you to participate in a group drum circle. Not far behind, follows the message, to escape the stresses of life with stillness as the remedy for transformation or rejuvenation
These repeated opposing messages facilitate the opportunity for disharmony and ultimately dysfunction. Life’s journey can be full of noise in different forms beyond audibility. It can also be full of stress both good (short term) and not so good (long term)
Within the healing arts model of evidence based therapies, the opportunity to respond with humility and gratitude, despite the noise and stress, allows a shift to occur in our mind/body connection to prevent negativity and resentment that lead to physical, emotional, and spiritual imbalances
When we maximize movement as medicine, those choices trigger body systems to engage, utilizing internal communication mechanisms for change
True wellness is integrative and all encompassing, engaging, and best achieved by supporting more than one method of care or body system
Contrary to models of care who “treat” individuals, INDIGO does not hold space for experiences to treat or fix someone simply because our bodies are created and designed to self-heal (vis medicatrix naturae)
This is shown consistently with evidence-based healing arts practices supported by medical journals and supportive resources and pathways for change
The perspective, time, and pace in which we move is deeply rooted in cultural traditions. Historically influenced by Hippocrates, with the model movement is medicine, confidently it is our greatest resource for propelling change
“Movement is a medicine for creating change in a person’s physical, emotional, and mental states.” Carol Welch
At INDIGO, offerings are available thru a dedicated lens of communication without incentives or rewards for regimens or rituals
Valuing commitment to wellness partnerships is ideal however, memberships is something that INDIGO does not provide. When you arrive at an appointment with transparency and a goal supported by the studio, it is in that moment you can best be supported and guided
It is also in that moment to be reminded to not pivot away from self-autonomy with a scripted regimented monthly experience. A wellness series spaced closely together is an available as a plan of care to best capture the nuances and needs of each individual more accurately than a monthly membership
