Spring Promo - Sakura Japanese TCM Botanical Face Treatment
At INDIGO, healing art therapies are supported and informed within the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM), and the allopathic model of care
The healing arts are rooted in promoting physical and emotional wellbeing with therapeutic and creative practices that promote change. Evidence based therapies are available to support and impact cognitive processing and health, both the central (CNS) and peripheral (PNS) nervous systems, the muscular, skeletal, circulatory, lymphatic system, and integumentary system, as well as the intricate network of fascia (connective tissue) found superficially in the hypodermis and more deeply in the musculoskeletal system
Respectively, wellness offerings are an alternative and holistic method assisting the internal communication of the pathways (meridians) and the central and governing channels, facilitating a parasympathetic response. This response has been shown to lower stress, reduce tension and pain, improve quality of sleep, as well as aiding in neurological responses for change
At INDIGO, the foundation of wellness offerings is supported by honoring creation, leaning into the wisdom of the earth, guided by materia medica (plant medicine). This thoughtful and contemplative approach deeply aligns both on a cellular and cosmic level. May we be renewed and restored with this truth, and lead with humility, grace, and respect, to always be a light in the darkness
“The soul that loves God sees his beauty in every created thing.” - Saint Paisios of Mount Athos
TCM therapies promote harmony and wellbeing addressing communication (internal and external), emotional, and physical imbalances with efforts striving to bring one back to their center. It is a model in existence for generations, layered with wisdom, developments and advancements. TCM functions on the Bian Zheng Lun Zhi model, which evaluates the body’s internal balance, functional state, and symptom patterns
In the TCM model, influences and resources are available from China, Viet Nam, Korea, Tibet, Japan, France, and so on. For example, in the Japanese (Shiatsu) approach, a practitioner may operate by assessment of palpation of the hara (abdomen), palpation of the pulses, and visual assessment of the face and tongue. TCM as a whole, is a highly individualized experience with guiding principles including opposing elements striving to come into balance following mind/body medicine techniques of Yin/Yang and 5 Element philosophy and practice
Yin (passive), Deficiency (Xu), Cold (Han), Internal (Li)
Yang (active), Excess (Shi) Heat (Re), External (Biao)
TCM 5 Element (Wu Xing) Element (Season/Emotion)
Wood (Spring/Anger), Fire (Summer/Joy), Earth (Late Summer/Worry), Metal (Autumn/Grief), Water (Winter/Fear
At INDIGO, the compass for wellness is positioned North towards Polaris, the great Northern Star, that remains still in the moving cosmos

During your visit, refresh and hydrate with artesian glass bottled spring and mineral water sourced from the United States, Italy, Serbia, Iceland, and Peru (offerings vary). Water is best received both before and after a wellness session to encourage circulation, support hydration, and provide a neurological reset within the mind/body connection
To further support the body systems, tisanes and teas are available aligning within the TCM 5 element and Japanese macrobiotic model, these options change seasonally within spring, summer, late summer, autumn, and winter
Assorted organic, and Fair Trade (when possible) herbal *tisanes (*non caffeinated herbals) are best received before a wellness session as they promote hydration. Tisanes include herbs, fruits, berries, spices, flowers, and roots infused in water (hot/cold) to release their benefits
Assorted organic, and Fair Trade (when possible) teas are best received after a wellness session to support detoxification. True teas (green, white, black, and oolong) are from the tea bush Camellia sinensis family. True teas contain caffeine and act as a stimulant and are counterproductive to hydration. These are best served after a wellness session to promote detoxification
In the TCM 5 element model, alcohol is counterintuitive to balance body, mind, and spirit and is not served or available for consumption with your visit. Alcohol inhibits proprioceptors of the brain. Alcohol is dehydrating and promotes disharmony with an interference for wellness
Indigo reserves the right to cease wellness offerings to someone who is under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances during their appointment (and the guest will be responsible for the full amount of the service fee)
